Alright, let’s talk about this here Topps UFC Midnight checklist thing. I ain’t no expert, you know, but I can tell ya what I see.
First off, they got this “base set,” 100 cards they say. Sounds like a whole lotta cards to me. Like, who’s gonna keep track of all that? But folks seem to like ’em, so what do I know?
Then there’s all this “black chrome” talk. Shiny cards, I guess. They use all sorts of colors too, makes ’em real purdy to look at. I reckon that’s why folks are willin’ to pay good money for ’em.
They got these “autograph relics” too. That means some fighter signed the card, I think. And maybe they stuck a piece of their sweaty old shirt on it or somethin’. I ain’t sure about that part, sounds kinda gross if ya ask me.
- Base Set: 100 cards. That’s a whole heap of cards, like I said. Gotta catch ’em all, or somethin’ like that.
- Parallels: Now, these are like the regular cards, but shiny or somethin’. They got all sorts of colors, makes your head spin just thinkin’ about it. Some are rarer than others, I hear.
- Autographs: These are the ones folks really want. A fighter scribbled their name on it, makes it special, I guess. They say you get three in a box, that’s a pretty good deal, ain’t it?
- Autograph Relics: Like I said, signed cards with a piece of somethin’ stuck on ’em. Could be a piece of their fight gear, could be who knows what. I ain’t touchin’ it, that’s for sure.
And get this, they say there’s over 3300 different cards to collect if you count all the variations! 3300! That’s more than the number of chickens I had last year, and that was a lot of chickens! I tell ya, it’s enough to make your head spin.
They got these “stroke of midnight autographs” too. Sounds fancy, huh? I reckon those are the real good ones, the ones that cost a pretty penny. They got “black light parallels” too. I don’t even know what that means, sounds like somethin’ from outer space or somethin’.
Now, I hear tell that Topps and this Zuffa fella started doin’ this back in 2008. That’s a long time ago, way before my grandson even started watchin’ them fightin’ fellas on the TV. So, they been at it a while, makin’ these cards. Must be makin’ somebody some money, that’s for sure.
They got these “price guides” too. Folks wanna know how much their cards are worth, I guess. I don’t get it myself. It’s just a piece of cardboard with a picture on it, but hey, what do I know?
So, if you’re into this whole UFC Midnight card thing, you gotta keep track of all these different cards. That’s what this checklist is for, I reckon. It helps you figure out what you got and what you still need. Sounds like a whole lotta work to me, but if it makes ya happy, who am I to judge?
Topps, that’s the name on the cards. They been makin’ these sports cards for ages, I think. They know what they’re doin’, I guess. Otherwise, folks wouldn’t be buyin’ ’em.
So, there ya have it. That’s my take on this Topps UFC Midnight checklist. Like I said, I ain’t no expert, but I can tell ya what I see. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed them chickens.
