Man, I’ve been meaning to tell you guys about this weekend. So, I’m a huge UFC fan, right? And I heard there were gonna be some fights in Chicago. I’m always down to watch some good ol’ mixed martial arts, so I hopped on it. Figured I’d make a whole thing of it, you know?
First thing I did was look up where I could catch these fights. I didn’t wanna be stuck at home, and I sure as heck wasn’t gonna pay for it. I wanted to be out, maybe with some buddies, some beers, the whole nine yards. Checked out this site, Yelp, it’s usually pretty solid for finding spots. Typed in “places to watch UFC fights in Chicago” and boom, tons of options popped up.
Here’s what I found:
- Theory
- Timothy O’Toole’s Pub – Chicago
- All Star Seafood & Sports
- First Draft
- Over/Under Sports Bar
I’d heard good things about a few of these places. There were also some other places, like D’Agostino’s Pizza and Pub River Grove, Miller’s Ale House, and Play Book Sports Bar, but they were a little too far for my taste.
I called up a couple of friends, and we decided to hit up this place called “Theory.” Seemed like a decent spot, had good reviews, and wasn’t too far from where we all live. We got there, and it was packed, which is always a good sign when you’re looking for that fight night energy. Grabbed a table, ordered some drinks—you know, the usual bar stuff—and settled in.
The fights were awesome. The crowd was into it, cheering and all that. It’s just way more fun watching these things with other people who are just as hyped as you are. Plus, I didn’t have to clean up any spilled beer at my own place, which is always a bonus. It turned out to be a blast.
If you’re ever in Chicago and there’s a UFC event, definitely check out one of these bars. It’s a great way to spend a night, especially if you’re into the sport. Just a heads up, it can get pretty crowded, so maybe get there a bit early to snag a good spot.
Oh and one last thing. I found out that the last big UFC event in Chicago was way back in June 2019. I thought that was pretty crazy. They used to have events more often. But hey, I won’t complain about having an excuse to go out and enjoy some fights.
Anyway, just wanted to share my little adventure. It’s not every day you get to see some good fights in a city like Chicago. Definitely an experience worth having.
